Trex Company Outshines Competition in Builder 2019 Brand Use Study
Industry Leader Takes Top Spot in Three Key Performance Areas for 12th Consecutive Year
WINCHESTER, Va., April 15, 2019 – When it comes to outdoor living, there’s one name at the top of every builder’s list – Trex®. For the 12th consecutive year, the world’s number one decking and railing brand, and leader in high-performance, low-maintenance outdoor living products, dominated the composite category in Builder magazine’s annual Brand Use Study.
Proving its unparalleled brand prominence among trade professionals, Trex was named number one in “brand familiarity,” “brand used the most” and “brand used in the past two years” for the composite/PVC decking category.
In this year’s study, more than 37 percent of respondents selected Trex as the brand they specify and use most – approximately 15 percent more than the closest competitor. In the “brand used most in the past two years” category, Trex was also the clear frontrunner by a large margin – receiving approximately 13 percent more votes than the closest competitor. This is the 12th consecutive year that Trex has earned the top spot in these two rankings – an unparalleled achievement within the composite decking industry.

The 2019 Builder Brand Use Study, sponsored by Hanley Wood and conducted by The Farnsworth Group, a leading industry market research firm, surveyed more than 1,000 professional builders, contractors and industry professionals.
