Decking Lattice FAQs

How much does decorative lattice cost?
The cost of decorative lattice varies depending upon several factors, including the material, size, quality, and where you purchase it. Here are some general price ranges for different types of lattice.
  • Wood lattice: Wood lattice is often the most affordable option. Prices typically range from $30 to $90 per 4’x8’ sheet, depending on the wood species and quality.
  • Vinyl lattice: Vinyl lattice is a durable and low-maintenance option. Prices for vinyl lattice panels generally range from $30 to $240 per 4’x8’ panel.
  • cPVC lattice: cPVC lattice, like Trex® Lattice™, offers increased durability and resistance to moisture and tends to be more expensive, ranging from $110 to $750 per 4’x8’ panel. The increased price is offset by easy maintenance and long-lasting durability.
  • Aluminum lattice: These decorative lattice panels are the most expensive. Prices range from $500 to $2000+ for custom designs.
How do you add lattice to an existing deck?

  • Determine the amount of lattice material needed by measuring the length and height of the sections where you intend to install the material.
  • Clear any debris or obstacles from the area where you plan to attach the lattice. Ensure the surface is clean and free of any loose or protruding nails or screws.
  • If you do not have existing support posts or framing to attach the lattice, you may need to install them at regular intervals along the edge of the deck where you plan to attach the lattice.
  • Cut and trim the lattice panels to the desired size. Measure and mark the panels accurately before cutting to ensure a proper fit.
  • Position the lattice panels against the deck’s support posts or existing framework. Use stainless steel screws or nails to secure the lattice to the posts or framework. Be mindful of maintaining consistent spacing between the lattice strips or patterns.
  • Trim any excess lattice material to ensure a clean or uniform appearance. Sand the cut edges of the lattice to smooth them out, if needed. Additionally, consider adding a decorative trim around the edges of the lattice for a polished look.
  • If you’re unsure about any aspect of the installation process, it is recommended that you see professional assistance or guidance from a qualified deck builder.
What is the purpose of attaching lattice, or deck skirting, to a deck?

Lattice is often used as a decorative element to enhance the overall visual appeal of a deck. It adds a touch of elegance and can complement the architectural style of the surrounding structures. Lattice allows for improved airflow under the deck, which helps prevent moisture buildup and promotes better ventilation. This is particularly beneficial in regions with high humidity or areas where air circulation is important.
