New Functionality on Trex.com Makes Obtaining Samples Easy for Consumers
WINCHESTER, Va., April 7, 2015 – Seeing is believing, which is why Trex Company, the world’s largest manufacturer of wood-alternative decking and railing, has expanded its website with a new online sample fulfillment program that enables consumers to quickly and easily obtain and compare samples of Trex composite decking. Visitors to Trex.com now can order sample boards from all three high-performance Trex decking collections in every shade offered, with convenient delivery by the U.S. Postal Service, to help with their deck planning and decision making.
“It’s one thing to browse decking options in a catalog or retail setting, but viewing actual samples at home allows consumers to visualize firsthand the rich aesthetics and premium quality of Trex products and how they pair with their home’s distinct style,” said Ronald W. Kaplan, chairman, president and CEO of Trex. “Our goal with this program is to provide a convenient and natural next step for consumers exploring our site to turn inspiration into action, and to help lead them confidently toward choosing Trex for their homes.”
With simple navigation from the Trex.com home page, consumers can browse the comprehensive selection of Trex decking – including Trex Select®, Trex Enhance® and Trex Transcend® – or filter offerings by collection and color for easy product comparison. The site includes a variety of images of each Trex decking option, in both close-up detail as well as in completed outdoor living settings, to help consumers visualize the different colors, textures and finishes, and to inspire the planning and design process.
Visitors may purchase 12-inch deck boards in any of the 18 different color options through the site and have them shipped directly to their homes. All samples, regardless of collection or color, are priced at $10, including shipping.
As a testament to the superior strength and durability of Trex decking, single board samples will be shipped via USPS without any exterior packaging – just a shipping label affixed to the actual deck board. The idea behind this method is to demonstrate how beautifully Trex decking stands up to the impact, friction and other wear and tear incurred along the journey from the Trex manufacturing facility to the homeowner’s front door. (For shipping convenience, orders of two or more samples will be boxed.)
“We want to highlight the high-performance durability of Trex’s composite decking, starting with the samples our customers receive,” Kaplan explained. “All of the options we offer are capped with a protective shell that guards the boards from scratching, warping, fading and staining. By shipping them without packaging we are able to convey these performance benefits in a way that is impactful and authentic.”
