High-Performance Trex Transcend® Decking Showcased in Artist Terence Gower’s ‘SuperPuesto’

WINCHESTER, Va., Aug. 27, 2014 – Proving that the superior durability and beauty of its products is truly timeless, Trex Company – the world’s largest manufacturer of wood-alternative decking and railing – helped create a traditional Latin American marketplace for a new exhibition at The Bronx Museum of the Arts. The installation, entitled SuperPuesto, will serve as a space for a series of educational and public programs on Modernism and Modernist architecture in Latin America and the Caribbean, and is the first of its kind in the United States, according to the Museum.

Celebrated artist Terence Gower specified 1,000 square feet of Trex Transcend® for SuperPuesto, using the industry’s number one brand of high-performance decking to create a structure reminiscent of a traditional puesto – a typical market stall found throughout Latin America – and juxtaposing it with the clean, sharp lines of modernist architecture. For his color scheme, Gower selected Island Mist, the newest color offering from Trex, which delivers a silvery shade featuring realistic streaking that mimics the natural look and feel of tropical hardwood.

“With its high style and extreme livability, Trex Transcend has proved to be the ideal material for this installation,” said Allison Chernow, director of external affairs for The Bronx Museum of the Arts. “The depth of color and natural looking wood grain emulate the look of a traditional marketplace, while the outstanding wear resistance ensures that it will hold up to and look beautiful even with heavy foot traffic at the exhibition.”

Designed to outlast and outperform wood, early-generation composite and PVC for decades, Trex Transcend offers a superior combination of performance and aesthetics. It resists stains, scratches and mold and features a distinctive and natural-looking, high-definition wood grain pattern in rich, deep colors. Trex Transcend decking also contains 95 percent recycled content, contributing to the LEED points of any residential or commercial structure.

“This installation at The Bronx Museum of the Arts has allowed us to showcase how the versatile design of our products can complement any vision – whether it’s an artist’s masterpiece or a homeowner’s backyard,” said Ronald W. Kaplan, chairman, president and CEO of Trex. “The distinctive realism of Trex Transcend makes it the perfect selection for such a prestigious setting, and its unmatched performance ensures that this incredible public work of art can be enjoyed by all who visit it.”

SuperPuesto is located across from The Bronx Museum of the Arts at the Andrew Freedman Home Garden, 1125 Grand Concourse between 166th and McClellan Streets, Bronx. For more information on the exhibition and guided tours please visit the Museum’s website here:
