Partnership to Significantly Expand Trex’s Presence throughout Eastern Australia

WINCHESTER, Va., May 23, 2013 – Trex Company, the world’s largest manufacturer of wood-alternative decking and railing products, today announced that it has entered into a distribution agreement with Replas, Australia’s leading manufacturer of recycled plastic products. Through this partnership, Trex will continue to grow its brand presence in Eastern Australia and be better positioned to capture additional share of the country’s wood-alternative decking and railing market.

“Our alliance with Replas will considerably increase our sales footprint in Australia and ensure that high-performance Trex outdoor living products are available to building professionals and homeowners throughout the entire country,” said Ron Kaplan, chairman, president and CEO of Trex. “Replas’ robust distribution infrastructure, sales resources and warehousing facilities – combined with our manufacturing expertise – will help to establish Trex as a leading outdoor living brand in Australia.”

Beginning in July, Replas will distribute Trex decking and railing to the States of Queensland, Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Tasmania – as well as the Northern Territory, Australian Capital Territory and New Zealand.

“Replas and Trex share a strong commitment to excellence, innovation and service – as well as to the manufacturing of environmentally-friendly products,” said Mark Yates, principal director for Replas. “Our partnership is a natural fit, as both companies possess unparalleled brand recognition and nearly four decades of salvaging plastic waste from landfills and repurposing it into low-maintenance, long-lasting products that appeal to both consumers and contractors for their quality, beauty and eco-consciousness.”

With superior durability and aesthetics, Trex decking combines a finish that resists stains, scratches and mould with a distinctive and natural-looking, wood-grain pattern in deep, saturated colours. In addition, Trex decking is extremely low maintenance. It won’t rot, warp, crack or splinter – and upkeep is hassle-free. The product requires no sanding, staining or painting, and food spills wash off easily with just soap and water. Trex modular railing is designed to pair beautifully with any color of Trex decking to allow maximum design flexibility. For additional peace of mind, Trex decking is backed by a 25-year Limited Residential Fade and Stain Warranty.

As a company built on green principles and practices, Trex decking is manufactured of 95 per cent recycled content – including reclaimed wood and sawdust, as well as recycled plastic from many common household items like sandwich bags, newspaper sleeves and grocery bags. In fact, Trex saves approximately 300,000 tonnes of plastic and wood scrap from landfill sites every year, and Trex is the first company in the wood-alternative decking industry to receive an International Code Council Evaluation Service® (ICC-ES)* SAVE Verification for Recycled Content.
