High-performance Collection Combines Superior Durability with Classic Styling
Winchester, VA., July 25, 2011 – Following the recent launch of Trex Transcend® in several new color options, as well as energy-efficient Trex Deck Lighting™ and Trex Elevations™ steel deck framing, Trex Company is now moving beyond the backyard with an integrated system of porch components and accessories. New Trex Transcend Porch Flooring and Railing System brings the superior durability and aesthetics of Trex Transcend, the number one brand of beautiful, high-performance decking and railing materials, to the front of the home.
The comprehensive Transcend Porch system includes virtually gap-free floor boards with universal hidden fasteners, coordinating post and railing options and TrexTrim™ beadboard and mouldings. Combine with beautifully crafted Trex Outdoor Furniture™, which now includes rocking chair and porch swing pieces, and the result is a complete, finished look for the front of the home. This is the first fully-packaged system that allows the trade to efficiently and cost-effectively build a complete porch setting, while meeting consumer demand for an eco-friendly, low-maintenance outdoor living space that will retain its beauty for years to come.
“Porches are growing in popularity as the country experiences a renewed focus on community, and many consumers seek to add curb appeal to the front of their homes,” said Ron Kaplan, chairman, president and CEO of Trex. “This category is a natural expansion of the Trex Transcend brand, as contractors tell us that they regularly build porches out of composite deck materials because customers are tired of replacing and repairing wood floor boards. We know there is strong demand for a high-performance porch system that truly stands up to the elements and expands consumer enjoyment of low-maintenance outdoor living.”
Transcend Porch is available in three different floor board lengths – 10’, 12’ and 16’ – and three signature Trex Transcend colors – Gravel Path (pristine grey), Fire Pit (spicy red) and Spiced Rum (warm, earthy umber with the streaked look of tropical hardwoods). Contractors can customize and coordinate Transcend Porch with Trex Transcend decking, creating seamlessly integrated outdoor living spaces. Each floor board features a proprietary nine-element surface formulation that produces a natural, wood-like grain pattern that feels comfortable underfoot.
Offering all of the beauty and none of the bother of old-fashioned wood or bland concrete, Transcend Porch does not need sanding, staining or painting. Not only does the system clean up easily with soap and water – but like all Trex Transcend products – it won’t rot, warp, crack or splinter and offers resistance to food stains and mold. The exclusive Trex Transcend shell also defends against scratching and scuffing – even when exposed to heavy foot traffic and extreme weather.
The system’s floor boards are designed specifically for use with Trex Hideaway Universal Hidden Fasteners, which eliminate the need for all surface fastening and provide a cleaner look, free of visible screws and nails. With no pre-drilling necessary, Transcend Porch is easy to install, and the virtually gap-free construction lends for a smooth, unfettered finish.
Transcend Porch is backed by a 25-year Residential Fade and Stain Warranty and a 10-year Commercial Fade and Stain Warranty – unprecedented in the industry – and meets all Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) fire resistance standards, including ASTM E84 Class B fire-resistance rating required by the California State Fire Marshall.
Transcend Porch floor boards contain 95 percent recycled content – contributing to the LEED points of any residential or commercial structure – and are certified by the Verification of Attributes Report (VAR-1011) from the International Code Council Evaluation Service® (ICC-ES). All system components also are ADA (American Disability Association) slip compliant.
“With the Transcend Porch system, we have the opportunity to deliver a product with significant value to both homeowners and the trade while expanding our brand reach and capturing new customers,” said Kaplan. “As the category inventor and innovator, we’re extending our outdoor living leadership into the porch segment with the trusted, high-performance Transcend product.”
Transcend Porch is available at retail as of July 2011.
